250 Years of America

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future

On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate an extraordinary milestone: the 250th anniversary of American independence.
For two and a half centuries, generation after generation has carried forward a bold and enduring idea - that people should have the freedom to pursue a better life, build something meaningful, care for their families, and help shape the future of their communities.

This anniversary gives us an opportunity to celebrate. But it also invites us to pause, to remember, to give thanks, and to consider what we will contribute to the next chapter of the American story.

A Dream Passed From One Generation to the Next

The story of America has never belonged to any one person, place, or period in history.

  • It belongs to the farmers who worked the land and built communities from the ground up.
  • It belongs to the service members who defended our freedoms, often at tremendous personal cost.
  • It belongs to the teachers, nurses, tradespeople, business owners, first responders, public servants, parents, and neighbors who have strengthened this country through quiet acts of responsibility and care.
  • It belongs to those whose families have been here for generations and to those who more recently arrived with hope in their hearts and a determination to build a new life.

Our national story is made up of millions of individual stories - different in their experiences, but often connected by the same aspirations: freedom, security, opportunity, dignity, and a better future for the people we love. America’s 250th anniversary is not simply a celebration of how long our country has existed. It is a recognition of the people who have carried its promise forward.

Gratitude for Those Who Came Before Us

The freedoms and opportunities we enjoy today did not appear on their own.

They were protected, expanded, and strengthened by people willing to serve, sacrifice, work, build, teach, lead, and persevere. Some are remembered in history books. Many more are remembered only by their families, their neighbors, and the communities they helped create.

As we commemorate this historic anniversary, we honor all those who came before us—not by pretending that our national journey has always been easy or perfect, but by recognizing the courage required to keep moving forward.

The American story has included extraordinary achievement as well as hardship, disagreement, and unfinished work. Yet through every generation, people have continued striving to bring the nation closer to its founding ideals. That effort is part of our inheritance. It is also part of our responsibility.

Home Is at the Heart of the American Story

At Gum Tree Mortgage, we have the privilege of seeing the American dream expressed in a deeply personal way: through the dream of home.

A home is more than lumber, brick, windows, and a roof. It is where families gather around the dinner table. It is where children take their first steps. It is where birthdays are celebrated, holidays are shared, and ordinary moments become treasured memories. It is where people rest after a long day, care for one another through difficult seasons, and make plans for the future.

A home can offer stability. It can create a sense of belonging. It can become part of a family’s legacy and a foundation upon which future generations continue building.

For 250 years, Americans have worked toward the opportunity to create places they can call their own. That pursuit remains one of the most familiar and meaningful expressions of the American dream.

Helping people find a path toward homeownership is therefore more than a financial transaction to us. It is an opportunity to support families, strengthen communities, and participate in a tradition that reaches across generations.

A Nation Built on Communities

America is often described through its great monuments, famous cities, and defining historical moments. But the country is truly sustained in its communities.

It is found along rural roads, on family farms, in growing neighborhoods, in small businesses, in local schools, and on front porches where neighbors still take time to talk. It is found in volunteers who step forward when help is needed. It is found in churches, civic organizations, youth teams, community events, and families caring for one another. It is found whenever people choose cooperation over division, service over indifference, and hope over discouragement.

Our nation is strongest when our communities are strong—and strong communities begin with people who feel seen, supported, and connected.

As we celebrate 250 years of independence, we can also celebrate the countless local communities that give America its character, resilience, and heart.

Freedom Comes With Responsibility

Independence is one of our nation’s most cherished principles. Yet freedom has never meant that we are disconnected from one another.

True freedom carries responsibility: to participate, to listen, to serve, to protect opportunity, and to leave something meaningful for those who follow us.

We may come from different backgrounds. We may hold different beliefs. We may not always agree on the best path forward. But we share a country, a future, and an obligation to treat one another with dignity.

This anniversary can remind us that unity does not require uniformity. It requires the willingness to recognize our common humanity and to continue working together, even when doing so is difficult. America’s strength has always come from people who believed that tomorrow could be better - and who were willing to do their part to make it so.

What Will We Build for the Next 250 Years?

Milestones naturally cause us to look backward, but their greatest value may be in helping us look ahead.

What kind of nation will we leave to the generations that follow? Will we create stronger communities? Will we protect opportunity? Will we remain grateful for our freedoms rather than taking them for granted? Will we listen more carefully, serve more willingly, and treat our neighbors more generously?

The answers will not be determined only by national leaders or major institutions. They will be shaped in homes, workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and communities across the country. They will be shaped by the choices ordinary Americans make every day.

Each of us is helping write the story that future generations will inherit.

Celebrating With Gratitude and Hope

On this historic 250th anniversary, we celebrate the vision that gave birth to our nation, the courage of those who defended it, and the perseverance of those who continued working to fulfill its promise.

We give thanks for the freedom to dream. The freedom to work. The freedom to build. The freedom to worship, speak, create, serve, and pursue a life of meaning. We give thanks for our families, our communities, our homes, and the people who make them special.

Most of all, we look toward the future with hope.

At Gum Tree Mortgage, we are grateful to serve the families and communities that make this nation remarkable. We remain committed to listening to your dreams, helping you navigate the journey toward homeownership, and supporting the places where America’s next chapter will be lived.

From our Gum Tree Mortgage family to yours, happy 250th anniversary, America.

May we honor the past with gratitude, meet the present with courage, and build the future together - with faith, kindness, responsibility, and hope.
